
Braised Turnips and Greens Bowl
As the ground starts to warm up in spring, it’s time to harvest turnips before we shift into the hot days of summer. This recipe pairs them with warm mustard greens and broth, making this the perfect early spring seasonal dish.

Ingredients
- 5 medium turnips
- 2 tbsp avocado oil
- 2 minced green garlic or green onions
- 1 cup vegetable broth
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/8 tsp sea salt
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 cup mustard greens
- 1 tsp maple syrup
- 1/2 cup chopped raw macadamia nuts
Instructions
- Trim, peel, and quarter the turnips, and then chop the turnip greens.
- Heat the avocado oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the turnips and garlic, and cook for 5 minutes or until the turnips are golden on each side.
- Add the broth, lemon juice, salt, and pepper, and bring to a boil. Cover and reduce the heat to a simmer. Allow to simmer until the turnips are slightly tender, about 5 to 10 minutes.
- Increase the temperature to medium-high heat, add the greens, and cook for another minute or two. Serve warm drizzled with maple syrup and topped with nuts.
